Parents that register for a car tag should also register their child(ren) in our Sunny Days after care program. The registration fee is $20.00.
PARENTS CAN HELP
- Students cannot be checked out of school after 3:15 pm. At this time of day teachers are giving final instructions, students are packing books and changing classes, and homework is being copied. It is a very busy time and it is difficult to locate students. If you must check out your child early, please do so prior to 3:15p.m.EARLY CHECKOUTS EFFECT PERFECT ATTENDANCE! Perfect Attendance awards are only given to students with NO TARDIES and NO EARLY CHECK-OUTS. Students may not participate in the “no tardy party” if he/she has tardies.
- Please give students any needed messages or instructions before they leave for school in the morning. THE OFFICE STAFF IS NOT ALLOWED TO FORWARD MESSAGES TO STUDENTS! If an emergency situation arises, for the safety of your child, you will have to come to school with your ID to leave a message. Also, if you call the school to find out if your child has arrived, we cannot give this information out over the telephone, you will have to come to the school.
- Students are only permitted to use the phone to call parents if they are ill or if they need lunch or lunch money. Please do not ask your child to call you from school for any other reason. If a child leaves something at home and you bring it to school for him/her, it will be placed in the teachers’ mailbox with a note. We will not call them down to the office and interrupt instruction. Teaching them to be organized and prepared teaches them to be responsible for life.
- PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD KNOWS HOW HE/SHE IS GETTING HOME BEFORE THEY LEAVE FOR SCHOOL IN THE MORNING. TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS CANNOT BE MADE OVER THE TELEPHONE OR THROUGHT HE FAX MACHINE, NO EXCEPTIONS. If your child rides a bus, he/she must wait for that bus in the assigned bus area. If you do not want your child to ride the bus on any particular day, you must send a note requesting that the child be allowed to wait for you to pick him/her up and indicate which walker’s gate he/she should exit. If a student lives more than one mile from the school he/she is considered a BUS RIDER. If BUS RIDER students DO NOT have a note from his/her parent giving permission for them to WALK to or from school, that child MUST ride the assigned bus. TEENAGE SIBLINGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON CAMPUS TO DROP OFF/PICK UP STUDENTS!
- Students who are picked up by parents in the afternoon MUST be picked up by 4:00 p.m. They are dismissed at 3:45 p.m. Please make sure you pick them up on time. A RECORD OF LATE PICK UPS IS ALSO KEPT. It is recommended that you enroll your child in Sunny Days if you are unable to pick them up in a timely manner.
- Students are NOT to arrive at school before 8:30 A.M. This includes walkers and students who are dropped off by parents. Teachers are not on duty prior to 8:30 a.m. and the school is NOT responsible for anything that occurs prior to this time. Your cooperation is needed in this matter. If a student arrives before 8:30 a.m., a letter will be mailed home. On the second time, a detention will be issued.
- Students may not bring cell phones, toys, radios, or games to school. Again, these items cause distractions and sometimes fights. Teachers will take such items from students and hold them until a parent comes to school for them. The school will not be responsible if confiscated items are lost, misplaced, broken or stolen. The best way to avoid a problem is not to allow your child to bring these items to school. Please check book bags!
- If parents need copies of students records for any reason, report cards, health records, birth certificates, etc., the school requires advance notice we cannot make copies upon your arrival at the front counter!
- BIRTHDAY CAKES/CUPCAKES ARE NOT ALLOWED –Students’ birthdays are recognized on the morning announcements. We do not celebrate individual birthdays in the classrooms due to the number of instructional minutes required by the state.
